3D motion design is more popular than ever, and its popularity only grows. That being said, we have exciting news for you: Now, you will be able to do even more 3D design directly in After Effects.

Let’s check out some of the latest features.

** The 3D models should be included in the package and have the correct license in order to be used in commercial projects.

Adding the 3D model to the After Effects is now as easy as any other file, just drag and drop to import thought the project panel. Just make sure it has .obj or .gltf/.glb format.

Here is an example:

1. Shadow catchers.

   Realistic shadows can now be cast onto your background quickly and effectively.

2. Embedded 3D model animations.

Now, you can import a 3D model with animation or multiple animations, and you have the option to time-remap it without losing quality. 

3. Depth data for the 3D objects.

You can extract the depth data from the Advanced 3D scene using the 3D Channel extract and use it for the compositing.

Some effects will also automatically use the depth data, such as Fog 3D.

4. Camera and lights in the Properties panel.

Simplified access to the properties for the lights and camera. It will be beneficial for complex scenes and animations.
